The
blades of these knives are of gem quality and should be maintained very
carefully as the cutting edges are vey delicate. The blade should always
be retracted when not in use in order to avoid contact with any material
other than tissue. When properly handled the knife can be used in a
significant number of cases (some surgeons have reported using the knives
in more than 700 cases). |

Immediately after surgery, rinse
thoroughly with distilled water using a syringe before placing
the knife back into the tray. At the end of the surgeries clean
it with distilled water and dry it with a fiberfree swab or tissue,
avoiding any pressure on the blade, gently wiping it from shaft
towards the tip of the blade. Ultrasound or cleaning-block should
not be used.
